چکیده
The aims of our study were (1) to determine the prevalence hypokalemia, (2) evaluate predictors for and (3) show influence hypokalemia on in-hospital outcome (mortality, adverse events, length stay) in a general trauma cohort. We performed four-year retrospective analyzed during hospitalization all adult patients admitted Level-1 center. A total 7692 consecutive included further analyzed. used multivariate regression analyses examine mortality, stay while adjusting covariates, including age, sex, injuries comorbidities. Hypokalemia was present 33% (n = 2565) patients, with peak at first two days. Congestive heart failure (OR 2.2, p < 0.001) head injury 2.0, most important risk factors hypokalemia. Moderate severe (<3.0mmol/L) significant predictor mortality 2.4, 0.001), mild (3.0 – 3.5mmol/L) not. 3.4, 1.7, events. Last, stayed significantly longer hospital (13 ±9 days vs. 8 ±12, 0.001). Trauma presenting have an increased dying suffering events need special medical attention.

متن کاملMorbidity and Mortality of Iranian Patients with Hyper IgM Syndrome: a Clinical Analysis
Background: Defects in B cell class switch recombination (CSR) are a heterogeneous and yet very uncommon group of disorders which all have a genetic basis uniformly leading to hyper IgM (HIgM) syndrome. Due to the rare frequency of these conditions, a very small number of case series have been conducted on the affected patients. Objective: To shed some light on the morbidity and mortality regar...
متن کاملBirth weight discordant twins have increased prenatal mortality and neonatal morbidity: an analysis of 1,132 twins
Background: Multiple pregnancies have increased significantly over the past decades. Birth weight discordance (BWD) is a common problem between twins, but its association with an increased morbidity and mortality is still unclear. The aim of this study was to determine the frequency of BWD among twins and to evaluate its impact on perinatal morbidity. Methods: Retrospective study of 1,132 twins...
متن کاملCoronary artery calcification is increased in patients with COPD and associated with increased morbidity and mortality.
BACKGROUND Coronary artery calcification is pathognomonic of coronary artery disease (CAD). Whether CAD in patients with COPD is linked to lung function, functional capacity and/or clinically relevant outcomes is unknown. The objective was to assess the association between CAD and disease severity, functional capacity and outcomes in patients with COPD. METHODS Coronary artery calcium score (...
